The 71.32% voter turnout in Gujarat, noted for the first time since its creation in 1960, has raised anxiousness levels among political parties forward of the counting of votes on 20 December.

People familiar with the issue said the meeting is predicted to discuss the votes polled by its candidates over every polling station in the 182 assembly constituencies.

The saffron party’s booth-level workers are telling respective ward in-charges in each constituency about the votes polled for the party through circulation of BJP candidate’s slips near every polling station, resources said.

The party has a powerful, synchronized booth network enabling it to conduct a micro-analysis of the high voter turnout in every constituency.

The first phase of the Gujarat assembly elections on 13 December recorded 70.75% polling and the strength was carried forward to the second and final phase on Monday, which recorded a 71.85% voter turnout.
